For the cheap price this is sturdy. It is made from particle board and better MDF (medium density fiberboard) The turned legs are real wood. The color is a little pinkish and very creamy! The shelves are thicker than average, are very heavy and have nice rounded edges. The little " wood grain" lines are a little cheap looking ( if you look closely) on this cream version, but look better on the black version we bought at lowes online. This shelf has a lot of design detail to it. This just happened to fit perfectly in an empty structural alcove we had. we did not use the included bead board backer or one of the shelves. This shelf was wedged in, trimed on the sides and spray painted with the wonderful sherwin williams duration paint, the same color as the walls. Looks like a neat built in now. It is used to openly house guest room linens. This was cheaper than a carpenters estimate, and other shelves we found were crazy priced or other issues.
