This bookcase would be great if the manufacturer had included assemble hardware adequate for the weight of the shelves. The assembly directions were followed to the letter, however the weight of the top decorative piece was so great it ripped the connecting screws - which are plastic - from the sides sending the topper crashing down on the shelves starting a chain reaction of fallin shelves all the way to the bottom. The damage, amazingly, can be repaired and we used metal shelving brackets to assemble the bookcase. We would not purchase any of the other pieces in the collection.
